Biography

Franklin was born on 7 December 1822 in Fitzwilliam, Cheshire, New Hampshire, United States. He was the son of Elijah Lyon (1793-1862) and Sarah (Howe) Lyon (1794-1872).^{[1] [2][3]}

Franklin married Charlotte M. C. (Haskell) Lyon (abt.1829-) on 21 February 1849 in Leominster, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States.^[4][5]

In the 1850 census Franklin (age 27), a stone cutter, was in Fitchburg, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States.^[6]

In the 1870 census Franklin (age 47) was in Fitchburg, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States.^[7]

In the 1880 census Franklin (age 57), stone mason, was the married head of household in Fitchburg, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States.^[8]

Franklin died (age 72y 8m 5d) on 12 August 1895 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.^[9] Franklin's obituary was printed on 14 August 1895 in the Boston Herald in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States, on page 6.^[10]

FRANKLIN LYON (Special Dispatch to the Boston Herald.) FITCHBURG, Aug. 13, 1895. Franklin Lyon, 72 years old, is dead. He was a quarryman and granite dealer for a long time, but has been retired 10 years. He built all the stone work bridges on the northern division of the Old Colony road when that company bought the old Boston, Clinton & Firchburg road.

He was born in Fitzwilliam, N.H. For 25 years of more he had been a Spritualist.

On Feb. 22, 1849, Mr. Lyon married Charlotte M. C. Haskell of Lunenburg. Four children were born to them, but one of whom, Miss Rosa P. Lyon, is living.

The funeral will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, Mt. Roulstone lodge of Odd Fellows, of which he was a member, will conduct the burial service at the grave.
