Martha was born in 1810, in Vermont. She was the daughter of Amos Lyon and Abigail Greenwood. [1]

Martha married Alvin Bacon Ayer, from Maine, on 25 October 1835.[2]

In 1850, the family is living in Lincoln, Penobscot, Maine. Alvin was a a millman.[3]
