Biography

L. Oscar Lyon is a Military Veteran.
Served in the United States Company I, 16th Connecticut Infantry 1862-1865
Enlisted during the US Civil War with the 16th Connecticut Infantry on 24 Aug 1862. Among others, he took part in the campaigns at Antietam and Fredericksburg. At Plymouth, NC on 20 Apr 1864, he was taken prisoner and sent to the deadly Andersonville prison where he remained until he was paroled on 20 Nov 1864. He was discharged from the Army on 17 Jun 1865.

When Leonard Oscar Lyon was born on August 11, 1840, in Connecticut, his father, George, was 26, and his mother, Eliza, was 27. He married Emma Grace Schulz Lyon on December 12, 1881, in Muskegon County, Michigan. They had no known children. He died on April 9, 1907, in Muskegon, Michigan, at the age of 66, and was buried there in Evergreen Cemetery.
