Biography

Paul was born in Owen county, Indiana on December 29, 1876 to Jonathan Lyon and Margaret Agee. ^[1] He was their fifth and final child and was enumerated with his parents and siblings William, Harvey, Nettie, and Lizzie on the the 1880 census of Taylor township in Owen county, Indiana.^[2] His father Jonathan (aka Frank) died when Paul was just 4 years old. ^[3]

Paul moved to Clay county, Indiana in 1893, working on the Anderson dairy farm until he started his own dairy farm. ^[4] He married Mary Florence Baumgart on February 7, 1899. ^[5] Paul and Florence had their five children between 1900 and 1914. The family was enumerated together on the 1920 census of Clay county, Indiana, which shows the recently married oldest daughter Lois and her husband William living with the family. ^[6]

When he was 66 years old, Paul was involved in a traffic accident in Terre Haute, Indiana. ^[7] He was driving his milk truck and was hit by a tractor trailer. The accident occured about 6 AM on April 7, 1943. Paul sustained a fractured left pelvis and extensive lacerations and also suffered shock from massive hemorrhaging. He lost consciousness and passed away eight days later at a hospital in Terre Haute on April 15, 1943.^[1]
