Mary MacAuley was born about 1841 in Barvas, Ross and Cromary, Isle of Lewis, Scotland, daughter of John MacAuley (1787–~1862) and Isabella Murray (1786– ).
Mary (16) married Donald Smith (23) (born on 1 January 1835 in Tong, Isle Of Lewis, Scotland; son of Duncan Smith and Henrietta (MacSween) Smith) on 16 December 1858 in Garrabost, Isle of Lewis. [1]
She is shown in the 1861 census as age 24 which would put her birth year as 1837[2]
Their known daughter was Mary Smith (1867–1963).[3]
