The Berea Enterprize (newspaper) Berea, Ohio Friday, March 31, 1905
Parma, Ohio
"Miss Elizabeth Mackender was born January 30, 1831 at West Row Mildenhal, Suffolk County, England. She sailed for America April 30, 1852, arriving at Brunswick, Medina County, Ohio, July 17, 1852, and was married to Richard Brown July 23 the same year. After residing for three years in Brunswick, they moved to Berea and from thence, in 1872, to the farm in Middleburg. To them were born six children, two of whom died in infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. Anna Engle, of Cleveland; Mrs Mary Beckwith, of Parma, Gerorge R, of Glenville; and William H of Cleveland. After the death of the father in 1895, a great misfortune befell the mother in the form of a broken limb, which, after nearly eight years of great suffering, resulted in her death, March 26, 1905, at the home of her daughter, Mrs Wallace Beckwith, of Parma, Ohio, with whom she had been residing for the past four years. The funeral services were held at her late home, March 27, 1905, Rev. Hobart Officiating. "
