Biography written in 1999 for Sarah Jordan's website
Elizabeth was the second daughter and was born on 13th June 1902. She married Joseph MARSLAND on 28 Sep 1935 at Bromley, Kent. Joe’s father owned two schools (Clarks College and Heath House) and I remember visiting the school, at Mason’s hill, Bromley where Uncle Joe taught. Betty contracted rheumatoid arthritis which gave her much pain but she always kept her sense of humour and was full of fun. When Joe’s father died he sold the schools and they moved to Cornwall and kept a succession of shops in Mevagissey, Saltash, Tywardreath and finally Delabole. Joe took up hand weaving and Betty sewed the garments in spite of her arthritis. She loved walks in the country and the wildflowers. They had no children. Betty died in 1972.
After Joe sold his school, Heath House, on Mason's Hill, Bromley they moved to Cornwall and owned a series of small shops in Mevagissey, Tywardreath, Saltash and finally Delabole. Joe took up handweaving which Betty made up into garments, in spite of her rheumatoid arthritis. The shops sold wool and sweets. Betty loved nature and was a fun-loving person.
