I found some interesting information on a William Henry Mackie. I'm not sure if it's the same person. According to a 1994 publication of the National Archives of Canada, on March 28, 1932, William Henry Mackie was charged with murdering his wife Margaret Ann Mackie. The trial took place in Morden MB from November 22 - 24, 1932 and William was sentenced to be executed on March 24, 1933. It looks like an appeal was filed and a new trial was ordered.
