Biography

John E. Madden, was born about 1827 in Tennessee. I believe he must have been a 1/2 sibling of my 2x great-grandmother, Esther Madden Moxley. Perhaps several kids died between John who was then 23 and Thomas 14, but for now, I'll leave him with Esther as his mother. Patrick H. and Esther Madden, my 3x great-grandparents had 5 children listed with them, in addition to John, in 1850 in the Middle District, Dickson, Tennessee census:

--John E. 23.

--Thomas 14.

--Houd 12, "Houd" may have been Patrick's middle name.

--Mary M. 11.

--Elizabeth 9.

--Esther 6, my ancestor.

Perhaps "Houd" was Patrick's or their mother's maiden name? In one census which I have mislaid there was a family of "Hoods" living close by the Maddens.

However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
