Hezekiah was born in 1740. He was the son of Alexander Maddux and Elizabeth Powell. He passed away in 1805.
TOA PG 212 VI. Hezekiah Maddux: like his brothers Zephaniah and Alexander Jr., received 63 acres of ”Whitefield” and sold his share to Benjamin Hearn along with all his brothers except Zachariah. On Apr. 17, 1770 Hezekiah Maddux of Somerset Co., MD bought "Stephen's Security” in Worcester Co., MD from Benjamin Hearn of Worcester Co. On Sept. 9, 1772 his father-in-law, Philip Parker, conveyed to him all his personal estate. He and brothers William and Zachariah Maddux are listed as taxpayers in 1785 in Little Creek Hundred in Sussex Co., DE. (Scharf, page 1318.)
Hezekiah’s name appears on a deed in Sussex Co., DE Jan. 31, 1785 as a resident of Worcester Co. and is one of the trustees who purchased a tract of land for the Old Line Methodist Church, so called because it stood partly in DE and partly in MD. This area was made from the southern parts of Broad Creek Hundred and Dagsborough Hundred. [1]
On Apr. 23, 1796 Hezekiah Maddux of Worcester Co., MD bought "Gordy’s Disappointment" in said county from Benjamin Hearn of Somerset Co. Hezekiah was in the 1790 Census from Worcester Co. as Hezekiah Maddux, page 125, 1 male over 16, 3 males under 16, 2 females, and no slaves. On Nov. 4, 1799 he bought from John Hearn and Elijah Smith of Sussex Co., DE 87 acres, parts of ”London” and ”Canaan” and ”Gosham.”
Hezekiah Maddux died between May 25 and Aug. 15, 1805 (Will, Worcester Co., MD). His wife was Elizabeth, probably the daughter of Philip Parker. His son, Wilson, was to get the land his father purchased from Elijah Smith, "Gordy’s Disappointment,” "Canaan,” and ”White Hill.” Son-in-law Francis White was to get ”Good Luck.” John White and John Downing were sons-in-law.
