Mary was the second daughter of William Magrath and Christiana Sutherland. She grew up in what is now Mississauga, Ontario, on the Magrath family's Erindale Estate, which her father had inherited before her birth. After the death of her mother in 1860, Mary and her two sisters were raised by their aunt, Anna Magrath. [1]
On September 29, 1881, Mary married Arthur B. Harris.[2] The following year their daughter, Annie Louisa, was born.[3] In 1883 Naomi was born.[4]
Mary died at "Benares" in 1954.[5] She was buried at Saint Peter's Anglican Church Cemetery, Erindale.[6]
