Mary Melinda 'Matilda' Mahan was born on February 8, 1850 in Ozark co., Missouri.[1] She was the daughter of John Mahan (1826-1886) and Sarah Ann (Welch) Mahan (1827-1893).[2] In 1860, at age 10 she was in her parent's home, along with her sibliings, David-11, William R-7, Martin-5, John-3 and baby Robert L. in District 45, Ozark co., Missouri.[3]
She married Jacob Wesley Buttramon 25 Feb 1869 in Ozark County, Missouri.[4] Jake and Tilda had ten children:
They made their first home on a Farm in Marion, Ozark Co., Missouri, with their first born, John E, 6 month's in 1870.[5] By 1880, John-10, William-8, Jacob M-6, Nancy Ann-4 and Mary Jane-1 were in the household, along with his sister Martha Buttram-26.[6]
In 1900, Jacob was farming, and Matilda was tending the home and raising the children, Robert-18, Jessie-16, Sophoinia-13, Margaret (Luranie)-11, and Sarah O-8 who were in the household.[7]
They went to Oklahoma looking for a better life by 1910, where they had a farm in Harris, Muskogee Co., Oklahoma, with Jessie-26, their daughter, Ollie 18, and her husband, Henry Tedder-25, in the home.[8] Both Jessie and Henry were working as Farm Laborers.
She died on August 19, 1915, at the age of 65, in Muskogee, Muskogee Co., Oklahoma, and was buried in the Frozen Rock Cemetery.[1]
