Research Note

The orginal version of this profile, created via a GEDcom upload, said "Eleanor (Ellen) MacKernes is a well-documented ancestor of Mayflower descendant. Wife of Roger Sargent. Rogers father is Hugh Sargent. This couple had one child - William. However, no working links listed in sources verify this have been located. Also, Roger Sargent is not listed as a passenger on the Mayflower. Mayflower project[1]

Makernes-14 and MacKernes-1 appear to represent the same person because: While MacKernes-1 has correct parents the record does contains some misleading information which I added to comments. Makernes-14 is just wrong. Ellen is a female, not a male and her father was William, son of Thomas, son of John Makernes.

Makernes-14 and MacKernes-1 do not represent the same person because: I don't know why they are even considered to be the same, with dates 30 and more years apart, fathers different, etc.
Thank you, I missed that when seeing Thomas' Ellen listed as male in Makernes-14. I have tried following the Mayflower links listed in sources but they are all bad links. Also, I am not finding any Roger Sargent listed as a Mayflower passenger. Would you be opposed to my updating the bio to indicate the source sited below and removing or refuting the comments as research notes of her being a well-documented ancestor of Mayflower?

I am not seeing any connection to Mayflower. Records I have found show she was married to Roger Sargent in Finedon, Northamptonshire, England in 1587/8 and they had 11 children, the eighth of which was William Sargent who was an early settler in the Plymouth colony but was not a passenger on the Mayflower. I removed the extra husband who got attached when parents were switched on her child.

If Eleanor MacKernes was born in 1564, she couldn't have married Roger Sargent in 1562 and had a son, Hugh, in 1530.
Eleanor (Ellen) MacKernes is a well-documented Mayflower ancestor. Wife of Roger Sargent. Rogers father is Hugh Sargent. This couple had one child - William.
