He was a Carter[5] before joining up as a solider serving in the Western European theatres of operation from 14 November 1916 till 5 August 1919 [2]. He then became a brickmaker[6].
He died on 11 February 1953 in Auckland, New Zealand[7][2] at 57 Vincent Street, Auckland.
