He was baptised on 2 January 1757 in the Dutch Reformed Church of Drakenstein. The witnesses were Eduard Christiaan Hauman and Susanna Marais.[1]
On 13 December 1775 he was adopted as a member of Dutch Reformed Church of Cape Town after confession of faith.[3]
On 9 February 1794 he married Margaretha Adelheid Hendriks in the Dutch Reformed Church Swartland, Malmesbury.[4]
In 1807 and 1822 he was the field cornet for Tygerberg and Koebergen.[5][6]
He died on 29 March 1836 at his own dwelling in Kloof street, Cape Town at the age of 79 years 5 months and 17 days. Formerly he was a farmer and field cornet.[2]
