NOTE: There is a chance that two people are being combined in the following, one from Somerset, and one in Eastern England.
Robert Malet is the first known Malet of Somerset. He was possibly the same person as the one who appears in Eastern England at this time, attesting charters in Bury St Edmunds and working as steward for King Stephen.[1]
His parentage is unknown but he could be the son of Robert Malet of Eye, and brother of his heir William Malet of Eye, who forfeited in 1110. (This would mean he had a brother named Gilbert.)
He lived at Curry Malet, Somerset, England. He was living in 1137.
He was succeeded by the following two, who were apparently his sons

She thinks Robert's father is probably Gilbert's brother Robert. She is also more adamant that this Robert was a brother of William who we currently have as the older Robert's son. In other words the current father should be a grandfather?
