Biography
There is a bit of mystery surrounding Jane's birth, she claimed to be a Mallaby born in Masham on the Census, but I have been unable to locate a record of such a birth Her mother Jane Johnston married her father Peter Mallaby in 1820, the Pallots Marriage record gives only their names and the year. Jane Mallaby was born 1822 and her brother Peter in 1823. Their mother, Jane Johnston Mallaby died in October 1824. I am hoping to search the Parish records for Masham and Bedale in hopes of finding the birth records and more information on their mother.
