Biography

Sarah Mallahan was born in 1789, daughter of Raleigh Molohan and Sabina Schoonover in Hampshire County Virginia


She married John Schoonover 21 June 1812 in Franklin Ohio[1] [2]and they had:

Alva 1812
John 1817
Sylvester 1819
Abraham 1821
William 1826
Charles Washington 1826

She died in 1827 and John re-maried Mary Deeds and they had three children:

Margaret 1826
Hiram 1830
Angelina 1833

Sadly John died in 1833 in the Cholera epidemic - a George Beals and the older kids raised the younger ones with Mary Deeds

Research Note

I have one note that says Sara died before 1816 but it was a speculative note from one chasing another branch - have seen more with 1827 and the first five children listed as hers Sally, wife of John Schoonover, died 1827, aged 25 years

There exists in my notes correspondence from Mary (second wife) to a relative about the family

Ordered that the following persons be recommended to his excellency the governor and council as fit and proper persons be commissioned to execute the offices for which they are recommended respectively within the county and distinguished by the first and second Battalion in manner and form following to wit Second Battalion - John Perrill, Gent., Major James Smith Captain, Archibald Linthicum, Lieutenant and Erasmus Tucker Ensign - William Perrill Captain, Gabriel Throckmorton Lieutenant and Stephen Hickle Ensign - First Batalion, Robert Koyle Captain, Rawleigh Mollohan Lieutenant, Jacob Putnam Ensign - Samuel Abernathy Captain, William Donaldson Lieutenant, Charles Taylor Ensign. Raleigh married Sabina Schoonover, daughter of Thomas Schoonover and Maria Westfall, between 1775 and 1785. Sabina was born on 3 Jan 1748 in Deerpark, Orange, New York, USA, was christened 3 Jun1748 in Deerpark, Orange, New York, USA, and died about 1850 in Shelby, Ohio, USA about age 102. Another name for Sabina was Weyntje Schoonover. They had seven children: Mary, Thompson, Elizabeth, Lidia, Rebecca, Charles, and Sarah. Noted events in her life were:
