William Maxifold, who w.is h. 3nl October, 176i, at Court Hall, co. Chester, the residence of his father, James Manifold, emigrated with his family to Van Diemen's Land in 1827, and settled at Kelso, on the river Tamar. He m. in 1791. Marv Barnes (who was b. 16th July, 1772, and d. 4th February, 1851), and d. July, 1846, having had six sons, all of whom d. mini, except I. Thomas (the fourth son), of whom we treat.
II. John (the fifth son), who left issue,
1. William Thompson, of Piutuuibete, Camperdown, Victoria.
2. Thomas, of Wirridgil, Camperdown.
3. Chester, of Talindert, Camperdown.
4. Kdward, of Danedite, Camperdown.
The elder surviving son,
Thomas Manifold, of Waiora, near Melbourne, Victoria, who was h. at Court Hall, CO. Chester, 29th March, 1809. He removed from Van Dieman's Land to Port Phillip, Victoria, in 1830, and with his two younger brothers, John and Peter, explored and settled at Purrumbete. After some years he removed to Grasmere, near Warrnambool,.and towards the latter end of his life gave up pastoral pursuits and lived at Waiora, his residence near Melbourne, where he d. 7th November, 1875. He m. 4th July, 1838, Jane Elizabeth, eldest daughter of the late Captain Walter Synnot, Gljlh Regiment, of Ballintate, eo. Armagh, Ireland, second son of Sir Walter Synnot, Xut., of Ballymoyer, co. Armagh {see Burke's Landed Gentry, Synot of Ballymoi/er) by Jane, his first wife, daughter of John 8eto.\. of Camberwell, and by her (who was b. IHth May, 1822, and now resides at Katandra, South Yarra, Melbourne) had issue,

II. Walter Synnot, of WoUaston, Warrnambool. Victoria {Clubs — Melbourne and Warrnambool), J. P. for the colonv of Queensland, b. 30th March, 18-19; m. 23rd April, 1885, Fanny Maria, third daughter of Commander Alexander John Smith, E.N , late astronomer of Hobart, Tasmania, and gold field commissioner at Castlenaine, Victoria, by Aubrey, his wife, daughter of George Frederick Head, of Hobart, director of the Bank of Van Diemen's Land, but has no issue. At his father's death Mr. Manifold in- herited the WoUaston and Motang properties, subject to the life interest of his mother.

The burial of Mrs. Elizabeth Mary Synnot Anderson, widow of Mr. Andrew George Anderson, formerly chairman of the Australian Estates and Mortgage Co Ltd. and mother of Mrs. S. M. Bruce, wife of the Prime Minister,i took place at the St. Kilda cemetery yesterday morning. The body was removed from Mrs. Anderson's home, Fairlee, Grange road, Toorak, to St. John's Church of England, Toorak, where a short service was conducted by the vicar (the Rev. Dr. A. Law). Dr. Law referred to the active interest which Mrs. Anderson had taken in church work for many years and especially to her work relative to St. John's Church. The following were the pallbearers- -Dr. A Mackay, Messrs. M. B. Synnot, J. Baird, Robert Bruce, Jack Manifold, and M. E. Ingram. The funeral arrangements were made by Messrs. W. G. Apps and Sons, St Kilda.
