Nathaniel's fourth marriage is documented in two somewhat unusual ways. Massachusetts state representative Samuel Jones, in his 1840 "Family Record", lists three subsequent marriages of his widowed grandmother, Rachel (Dibble) Jones: first, to Dr. Benjamin Kneeland; second, to a Dr. Mann; and third, to a Deacon Samuel Emmons. While no primary record has been found of the last two marriages, and Rachel's transcribed Connecticut death record shows her as "(Mrs.) Rachel Kneeland," her marriages to Nathaniel Mann of Hebron, and then after Nathaniel's death in 1758, to Deacon Samuel Emmons, are reliably reported... on her gravestone:

"After the birth of all his children, and after the death of his wife, Ruth Cone, in 1757, Samuel Emmons married the second time, and in the family burial ground, which is on a slight elevation of land overlooking the beautiful Valley of the 'Meadow-Brook,' is the following inscription on the grave-stone of his second wife:

In memory of Mrs.

. Rachel, wife of

. Ensign Samuel

Jones; 2d wife of Dr.

Benijn. Kneeland; 3d.

. wife of Mr. Nath'll.

Man; 4th wife of Dn.

. Samll. Emmons.

Who died Febr. 25th,

. 1765. Aged 65

Life

Nathaniel Man was the 2nd son of Richard Man Jr. & Elizabeth Sutton. Nathaniel's father Richard sold his farm on Mann Hill in Scituate in 1703, and then he left in 1704 and moved to Lebanon, Connecticut. Nathaniel Nan bought a home with 100 acres of land on July 6, 1705^[35]
