Biography

In the 1871 census Frederick was living and working as an attendant at the Gloucester County Asylum where he likely met Eliza Marden who worked there as a nurse.

In the 1891 census his occupation was 'professor of violin' Excerpt from a letter from Reg Smith (relative by marriage) written to Bill Hancox in the early 1960s: "I guess Flo [Hilda Florence Mann, Bill's mother] has not told you that her father [Frederick Mann] was the best fiddler of his day in Gloucester, playing in the three Choir Festivals in Cathedrals."
