John Mansfield, a twin, was born by early 1649; married 13 December 1683 Sarah (Pinney) Phelps, daughter of Humphrey Pinney and widow of William Phelps.[1] John died 15 March 1726/7 at Windsor, Connecticut.[2]
John and Sarah were the parents of four children: John (1683-1690); Sarah (1685); Samuel (1687); and Mary (1689). [3]
John and Sarah wrote a joint will, dated 1 February 1726/7 and proved 5 December. "John Mansfield and Sarah Mansfield of Windsor" bequeathed to:
our daughter Mary Searles, wife of James Searles of North Hampton that which she has already received. And next, we give son Cornelius Phelps, his wife Sarah all our moveable estate. The said James Searles and his wife receive their 25 within two years after our decease. And our son and daughter Cornelius Phelps and his wife, they are to have the improvement of our estate from this time, only we to have the use of them as long as we live. And we hereby nominate and appoint our son Cornelius Phelps to be our executor.[4]
