Epes was born 15 March 1827, in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He was the son of James Marchant and Mary Friend. [1]
On 23 May 1850, Epes married Alice Lincoln (Lufkin) Marchant (1831-), daughter of David & Louisa Lufkin, in Gloucester, Massachusetts.[2] The couple was living with Epes' siblings in Gloucester in 1850.[3]
Epes and Alice had two children:
Clarence Eugene, b. 4 Apr 1851
Louisa, b. 1858
Epes, a painter, died of consumption at age 30 on 29 November 1857, in Gloucester, Massachusetts. [4]
