Biography

This section edited by Bart Simon:

  • This Thomas Markham is NOT yet the:
  1. Thomas Markham of Ollerton (Noble Markham), (son of John Markham and Anne Strelley) m. Mary Griffin, who was BURIED in 1606 in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, and he did NOT m. Susan Greenleaf, or go to VA.
  2. Thomas Markham (Noble Markham) son of Valentine Markham.
  3. He is not the female Thomazin Markeem/Markcom (26) on the ship 'Assurance' in 1635.
  4. Thomas Markham ('a lewd boy that will not be ruled by his parents, but continually cometh away, to be sent to Virginia'): 1621-06-02: The Board of Governors of Bridewell Prison, London, considered the case of "Thomas Markham, a lewd boy that will not be ruled by his parents but continually cometh away, to be sent to Virginia." I would think it unlikely that this person would this same Thomas Markham. [1]
  • He is not known to have a son Lewis Markham.
  • As far as I know, he is NOT the ancestor of Josiah Silas Marcum, which seems to have different DNA (Group 2). [2]
  • His date and place of birth is unknown.
  • The Muster is taken on 1624/5-01-24, and their ages would be recorded on that date:
Robert Greenleafe (43y): 1624/5-43=1581/2. Susan Greenleafe (23y): 1624/5-23=1601/2.
Thomas Greenleafe: (3y): 1624/5-3=1621/2. Ann Greenleafe: (22w): 1624-22w=1624.
Robert Greenleafe (Arr. Tryall 1610). Susan Greenleafe (Arr. Jonathan 1620).
Considering this is 1624/5-01-24 and Thomas Greenleafe is already 3y, Susan would have m:c.1621 in VA. Both offspring Thomas and Ann would be born in VA.

  • Markham DNA Chart (Group 1). [4]

  • b:1606 Kent, England.
  • d:1678-09-26, Fairfax, Virginia.
  • Thomas was born in 1606. Thomas Markham ... He passed away in 1678. [1]
  • Thomas Markham: "Bad boy" Thomas Markham, age 15-17 years, sent to America ca 1615-1617. Bridwell, London, England. [2]

Thomas was born in 1600. Thomas Markum ... [3]

Markham-527 and Markum-8 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate. Markum-8 does not have spouse listed but both are parents of Markum-7. Cannot add spouse because she has PPP status and needs to be added by the Project manager.

Hello: As a Markham researcher (Unrelated), I am curious as to how Lewis Markham gets placed as son of this Thomas Markham ?. Bart.

Hello: I am taking liberty to remove all the noble Markhams from this profile. It will take time to complete this since I must wait for others etc. Thanks - Bart.
