Helena, daughter of Abraham Markham, was baptised on 20 May 1628 in West Allington, Lincolnshire.^[1]

She firstly married ? Izodd;^[2] this was probably Thomas Izod of Kirkby on Bain in Lincolnshire. Thomas Izod and Helena (Ellin/Ellen) had at least six children in Kirkby on Bain between 1554-1559:

Thomas Izod of the Close in the Citie of Lincolne died in 1661. In his will dated 10 January 1660 he makes his loving wife Hellena his sole executrix. He leaves £300 divided between his six children: Jane, Thomas, Francis, Anne, Hellena and Markham(?). His lands he left divided between his wife and children and he desired the children to be put forth to be brought up with some honest countryman within three months of his death.^[8]

The licence for Helena's second marriage to Thomas Bunworth was dated 19 May 1662 to take place in Hertingfordbury in Hertfordshire.^[2]

Research Notes

1. No record can be found of Tombe in Lincolnshire, which was recorded as her father's location: Abraham Martin of Tombe, Lincolnshire in the Lincolnshire Pedigrees. Possibly it was the name of a house in West Allington or Sedgebrook
2. The villages of Sedgebrook and West Allington, where Abraham Markham had land and where there is a parish record for the birth of a Helena Markham with a father Abraham, are both about 7 miles from Barkston (the place where her second husband lived).
