Biography
Henrietta Sarah (Markham) Law was born on 30 May 1764. She was the eldest daughter of Dr William Markham DD Archbishop of York.
She married Ewan Law on 28 June 1784
Children: Maria Ann Law b.?, Edward Law b. 10 Nov 1790 and Elizabeth Frederica Law b. 1794.
She passed away in 1844 and was buried at Saint Michael and All Angels Church, Little Horsted, Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 5TS.

- History of the Markham family Page 79 says: "Of the daughters of the archbishop, Henrietta the eldest married Ewan Law, Esq. of Horsted, Uckfield, Sussex, brother of Edward first Lord Ellenborough." See: History of the Markham Family. However, her elder brother John Markham's memoir (1761-1827) refers to the marriage of his eldest sister Harriet to Ewan Law.
- Other sources refer to her as Henrietta such as Ewan Law's biography on the History of Parliament website which says " m. 28 June 1784, Henrietta Sarah, da. of Most Rev. William Markham"
- The letter-journal of George Canning : 1793-1795. By Canning, George, 1770-1827. Page 35: Ewan Law (1747-1829), the brother of Edward, the 1st Baron Ellenborough and husband of Henrietta Sarah Markham. M.P. Westbury 1790-95. He was counsel to Warren Hastings, the former governor-general of India, whose trial was coming to a conclusion in Westminster Hall.

It is clear that Henrietta Sarah (Markham) Law was the daughter of Dr William Markham DD Archbishop of York, and that her grandfather was Major William Markham. However when it comes to Major William Markham's father, Daniel Markham, there are issues to be resolved.
