DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.

Joseph is definitely in my family. His great grandfather was Samuel Marsh, 1626-1683 who came to Boston in 1641 as a Puritan. Two years later he was in New Haven, CT. He married Comfort Mann and had 7-children. In 1665, he became one of "The Original 80 Elizabethtown Associates" that pioneered 400,000 acres of land in New Jersey" that was given to Sir Cartier by the King after this area was taken from the Dutch.
This line continues to his son Joseph, 1663-1723 married to Mary Sara Hinds.
Then to his son Samuel 1700-1773 married to Mary Shotwell. (The Shotwell and Hinds familys were also part of the 80 Original families.
Then to Joseph, 1730-1783 and married to Martha Webster, 1734-1762. Martha only lived 27 years.
