Born on April 15, 1887 in Spennymoor, England and arrived in North America in July 1911 on the Athenia, which made port at Quebec City. He reported that he meant to be a farmer in the ship registry.
David married Emily Doyle on August 24, 1916 in Niagara Falls, New York.[1]
However, on his 1917 draft registration, filled out on June 5, 1917, he says he is single.[2] At that point he was working as a fireman at the Niagara Alkali Company. Also, in the 1930 Federal Census, he is listed as living with his parents and unmarried in Niagara Falls.[3]He was at that point working as a laborer in a cemetery.
