Biography

Joseph Martin was born in 1657, Dover, Strafford County, New Hampshire. In a deposition made much later in his life (1713), he said that as a youth (perhaps while his parents were getting settled in New Jersey?), he lived at Welsh Cove with Anthony Nutter (perhaps brother of his Aunt Abigail Nutter Roberts). Perhaps he was apprenticed to Nutter?

A Survey was done for Joseph Martin on 15 March 1688 for 60 acres of Piscataway land, and he was issued a Patent on 10 May 1688. He was Constable (presumably of Piscataway) in 1690. He apparently acquired another 95 acres of land at Piscataway at some time, for he is said to have owned a total of 155 acres. He died in 1723, Piscataway, Middlesex County, New Jersey.

Joseph Martin married Sarah Trotter on 25 Nov 1679 in Woodbridge, Middlesex, New Jersey.[1]

I added a source for his marriage. Also added two short paragraphs of biography information.

Under the Marriage section, I am deleting one of the profiles for Moses Martin (they were merged into one). Also deleted Margaret Martin (child of Moses, and thus grandchild of Joseph).

This profile has had at least 3 merges but no one has "cleaned up" the Contents Section - please edit it and delete duplicate information so we have ONE Biography and ONE Sources section. Thank you for your contributions to our One World Tree.
