Research Notes

In Charles' profile, someone had previously guessed "France" as place of birth, "based on the citation" of which there was none in the profile. It is true that many Acadians were still in exile in France at that supposed date of birth, & that quite a few families made their way from there to Prince Edward Island, but I have not yet seen documentation that the household of Charles or his parents was among them.[2]

Jean Bernard[3] has no specifics on the birth of Charles (which means that Stephen A. White found no information, either). Birth date of 1776 is a guess (by J. DeRoche) based on S.A White's estimate of year of marriage as 1796 (which, in turn, seems based on evidence about dates & sequence of births of offspring), cited in Bernard[4]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Charles by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA test-takers in his direct paternal line. Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line: It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Charles:

Martin-70841 and Martin-13872 appear to represent the same person because: These are brothers but Landry says there was only one Charles in this family. Married to same spouse, Both have a child Clement.

John, I know you have quite a bit of information on this family as Landry cites you in some of the records.

The original father Joseph on Martin 70841 was incorrect as that profile has no spouse or known children.
