Elizabeth Ann Martin was born about 1697 (Date adjusted per error report) in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent, Virginia.

Elizabeth Ann Martin was born before her baptism date of 9 August 1708 in Christ Church Parish, Virginia to Martin Martin (10 Feb 1678 - 20 Mar 1745) and Sarah Hix (1682-1780). ^[1] These are her known siblings:

1. Amesen, baptized 6 April 1706 (female) in Virginia. ^[2]
2. Anne baptized 9 August 1708.
3. Valentine baptized 18 June 1710 (male). He married Jane Bridgewater. He died about 1760 in Cumberland County, Virginia.
4. Thomas baptized 4 June 1720 and another record showing this as a birth date.
5. Lucy born 20 August 1726.

The Will of Elizabeth Webb

"I Elizabeth Webb of the County of Washington State of Tennessee being of perfect mind and memory Thanks be to God, calling to mind that mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die, make this my last will and testament. First of all I give and recommend my soul unto God and my body unto the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial and touching my worldly, that God has been pleased to help me with in this life, I give & desire in the following manner.

First of all my black woman named HANNA, it becomes my wish and will when it is the will of GOD to take me out Of this world that the said Hannah shall forever free from service of any ….person. That she be her own guardian to account and to transact business for herself and for interests, independent of all and intent of any other person to come and go….when and where she may think proper so long as she may live, and as to the balance of my estate if any there be after paying my funeral charges .

I wish the equal division among my children without any distinction to as not to disprove any of my legal ……..of

The remaining interest of my estate. I do hereby discount any other will or …..this being my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have here Unto signed my name as it my last seal this 23 day of December in the year of our Lord, 1827. Elizabeth X Webb

1. ↑ Note that baptism was not in St. Peter's, New Kent. There is never any mention of a middle name of Ann. She probably has a sister named Ann born in 1708. There is a baptism record, which has been added as a source, that gives parents and Christ Church Parish, Middlesex, Virginia. It is one of the first counties in Virginia and was established in 1663.

• New Kent County, Virginia, 1684-1786, page 475. There's a record for 4 June 1720 for the birth of a Thomas son of Martin "Martyn" which could perhaps be a brother of Elizabeth.
