Biography

The name Martin was almost unknown in Camborne in the 17th century; Mary’s family must have come from somewhere else. Perhaps Mary was the Mary Martyn, bastard daughter of “Alce,” baptized 11 Nov. 1655 at Wendron (OPC). Alicia Martin, daughter of "Thome" Martin, was baptized 13 July 1603 at Wendron (per OPC). Thomas Martyn married Mary Burligh 14 Oct. 1599 at Wendron (per OPC).

On the other hand, Charles and Mary named their eldest daughter Ann, so perhaps Mary was a daughter of Ann Marthen, who was buried “in the church” at Camborne July 1691 (CPR).

The following Martins appear in the Camborne records: Widow Mary Martin was buried 15 Oct. 1656 at Camborne (CPR). Warren Martin, son of George, was buried 6 Dec. 1668 (CPR). Henrey Marten was buried 18 Apr. 1689 (CPR)
