Biography

Hershal Martin was a man's man. He was a great baseball PLAYER. He was offered a Professional contract, but he was married with a family, the money wasn't that great. He was about 6"2" probably 180 when young and 220 as an adult. He played baseball up and down the tracks from Springfield Missouri to Memphis Tennessee. Doubleheaders on Sunday afternoons. He fussed with his wife Faye, all the time. He had his own auto repair shop in Cabool Missouri, in the 1920's. He had red hair and an honery disposition. In the 1930's he went to Kansas City Missouri, and worked in the Pontiac plant. He was a lifelong baseball fan of the Kansas City A's and Royals. If you didn't drive a Pontiac, you drove a baby buggy. We all loved him.
