Biography

Mary was born about 1810, in Virginia. She was the daughter of Joseph Martin and Sally Hughes.

She first married John Chamberlain Staples. They had the following children.

  1. Abram Staples b. 1828 - d. 1911, m. Mary Elizabeth Gregg
  2. John Staples b. 1832 - d. 1898
  3. Susan Kathleen Staples b. 1836 - d. 1897, m. Andrew Jackson Stedman

John died around 1840.

On 23 Aug 1845, in Patrick, Virginia, she married Thomas McCabe. They settled in Patrick and had the following children.

  1. Thomas Fleetwood McCabe b. 1847 - d. 1895, m. Rachel Ann Tatum
  2. Samuel Hughes McCabe b. 1848 - d. 1863, age 15
  3. Sarah McCabe b. 1851 - d. 1868, age 17

Mary away in 1889 and is buried at the McCabe Cemetery, in Patrick County, Virginia.
