Biography

John was born about 1817. He was the son of William Martin and Elizabeth Shaon. He passed away about 1875.

In 1836 there was a Chancery case:1836-007 Joseph Martin etc v Admr of William Martin Etc, LVA, which names heirs of Joseph and heirs of William.

At a Circuit Superior Court of Law & Chancery continued & held for Bedford County at the courthouse on Friday the 15th day of May 1835.

William Martin, Thomas Martin, Rebecca Martin, Daniel Martin, Job Martin, Benjamin Martin, Rachael Martin, Elizabeth Martin, Charles Martin, Mary Martin, Joseph Martin & Ann Martin children & heirs of Joseph Martin deceased- the last ten of whom are infants under the age of twenty one years who sue by the said William Martin their next friend – Plaintiffs

against

Elizabeth Martin widow & relict of William Martin decd, Joseph Slaughter Sheriff of __ff Bedford & as such administrator of said Wm Martin, and John Martin, Lucy Martin, Joseph Martin, Sally Martin, Alfred Martin, William Martin, Martha Martin & Elizabeth Martin children & heirs of the said William Martin decd – the last eight of whom are infants under the age of twenty one years by John A.
