Winifred Rhoda Martin was born in Brookland, Barton-Regis, Gloucester, England on December 28, 1890, she was the only daughter of Bob Martin and Rhoda Shapcott their other three children all being boys. Winnie, as she was always known, was baptised at Brookland, Barton-Regis on April 1, 1891. When she was still very young the family moved to Bristol.^{[1] [2] [3]}

In 1891, Winifred was living in Bristol, The United Parishes of St James and St Paul, Gloucestershire, England with her mother, Rhoda A (32); her siblings, Leonard R (33), Leonard B (7), and Clifford B (5); and Emma Foreman (17). ^[4]

In 1901, Winifred (10) was living in Bristol, Gloucestershire with her parents, Leonard (43) and Rhoda (42); her siblings, Leonard (17), Clifford (15), Douglas (8), and Dorothy (4); and Nellie Alway (18), Sarah Robinson (40, aunt), and Annie Hall (18).^[5]

In 1911, Winifred (20)'s occupation was 'clerk shorthand and typist'. She was living at 1 Park Avenue North, Hornsey N, Hornsey, Middlesex with her parents, Leonard Robert (53) and Rhoda Ann (52); her siblings, Douglas Grahame (18), and Dorothy Gwendoline (14); and Servant Nelllie Rhoda Cox (22).^[6]

Winifred's Husband Edgar served in World War I. ^[7]

Winifred died in 1966 in Launceston, Cornwall, England, aged 75.^[8]
