Biography

Barbara Martin was born in 1734 at Manor Ridge, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. She was the daughter of Christian Martin (1694 – 1758) and Magdalena Schneider Martin (1695 – 1770).

Barbara married John Kauffman (1732-1810) in 1761. Barbara was 27 years old, and John was 29 years old. John was the son of Johan Andreas Kauffman (1668 – 1743) and Elizabeth Kneissle Kauffman (1698 – 1759).

There are three Find A Grave memorials for the wife of Andrew Kauffman. Two of them indicate that she is the daughter of Christian M. Martin and Magdalena (Schneider) Martin.

One that simply calls her Barbara lists as the children of Andrew and his wife:

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/40630788/magdalena-kauffman indicates that Magdalena died in Washington county, Maryland, but is buried in Silver Spring, Lancaster county, Pennsylvania

And the last one indicates that she died in Washington county, Maryland, with burial place unknown.

It seems unlikely, at that early date in American History, that if his wife, did move back East (her parents did not) that her remains would be shipped back for burial, but not entirely impossible.

Magdalena was born in 1724. She passed away in 1799.
