George was a son of Gladys and George A. Martin, Sr. He and his wife, Rose Marie, were married for 48 years, and the couple raised five sons: Wade, Brad, Scott, Todd, and Kirk Martin. He was employed by the Association of American Railroads, retiring in 1984 after 43 years of service.
