PERSONAL ITEMS
A wedding which created a great amount of interest was celebrated at the North Shore on Wednesday last, when Miss Marion Alison, daughter of Mr. Alexander Alison (manager of the Devonport Steam Ferry Company) was married to Mr. A. A. Martin. The ceremony took place in Holy Trinity Church, the Rev. Thomas Eykyn, vicar, officiating. The church was crowded with the many friends of the bride and her parents. The bride, who was given away by her father, was dressed in a lovely composition of brocaded satin, handsomely trimmed with guipure and duchess lace with elbow sleeves of tucked chiffon and lace. The skirt was made a la duchesse, with the train rounded off with small frills, instead of the usual veil of tulle, she had one of Honiton lace, which hung most gracefully over the coronet of orange blossoms. She also wore the present of the bridegroom, a very handsome chain and pendant. The bridesmaids (two of the younger sisters of the bride) were most becomingly dressed in white silk dresses, the skirts tucked from the waist with alternate rows of silk insertion caught here and there with bows of bebe ribbon. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Ethel Alison wore a floral hat, while Miss Muriel Alison looked charming in a large hat of chiffon and silk. The presents to the bridesmaids from the bridegroom were gold cable bangles, and the bouquets were also the presents of the bridegroom. Mr. W. Martin was the best man, assisted by Mr. John Ulrich. After the wedding ceremony the bridal party returned to the residence of the bride's parents, where the wedding breakfast was served, the guests being the relatives of the bride and bridegroom. The presents were both numerous and valuable, testifying to the great popularity of the bride and bridegroom both in Auckland and elsewhere. Mr. and Mrs. Martin left for Rotorua by the evening tram on Wednesday, to spend their honeymoon.
