Jane Martin married James Holder 22 September 1847 at Davidson County, North Carolina. They were married by W. W. Cooper and James Martin served as witness. Both James and Jane were residents of Davidson County, North Carolina. James is the son of Daniel Holder and Nancy Standeford. Elizabeth Harris’ research shows that the card file in the Moravian Archives in Salem states that they had eight children.
Jane is recorded 1850 United States Census, as Jane Holder residing with her husband James in the household of her mother-in-law Nancy Holder at Salem, Forsythe [sic] County, North Carolina. She is 27-years-old (suggesting a birthyear of 1823), no occupation is entered for her; she can read and write.
The 1860 United States Federal Census, enumerated 26 July, records Jane as Jane Holder residing in the household of her husband James Holder at Salem District, Forsyth County, North Carolina. She is 29 years old (suggesting a birth year of about 1831) and not able to read or write. Daughters six-year-old Nancy E, three-year-old twins Belinda H. and Mary B. and one-year old Allice S are also residing in the household.
Jane was deceased by 1870.
