Leon A. Martin, aged 32 years, and a prominent farmer of Perry Township, passed away at the family home, nine miles north of Fort Wayne, at 3:40 o'clock Monday morning. Death followed an illness of one year, but his condition was not serious until several months ago. He was born and reared in Perry township, and had resided there his entire life, and was very active in all happenings in the community.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jule J. Martin, pioneer residents of Perry township. The deceased was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic church, at Academie, and was affiliated with the various organizations of that church. He was married to Miss Eudoxia Girard, on June 5, 1912, who survives him, as do the parents, three sons, Carlton, aged 6 years; Paul, 4; and Leslie, 2 years; two sisters, Mrs. A.J. Nomina and Mrs. August Guillaume, both of this city.
Funeral services Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at the residence, and at 9:30 o'clock at St. Vincent's Catholic church. The body will be brought to Fort Wayne and placed in the new Catholic mausoleum for final burial.[1]
