John Audley Martin was born on 1 Mar 1862 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. He was the son of William Audley Martin & Susan J. (Bedford) (Waters) Gettys (1836–1914).

John was twice married first to Cora Alice Harrill Martin (1870–1892) and Mary Louise Harrill Martin (1866–1945); (m. 1893).

John died on 8 Nov 1943 (aged 81) in Rutherford County, North Carolina.

Research Notes

William Audley Martin died in the Civil War in 1863. John’s parents were never married and John was raised by paternal grandmother, Alpha Sweezy Martin. She is shown to be his mother in his death certificate and Grandmother in the 1880 Census.
