"Quick Death Takes Martin Well Known Pioneer of Near Carmen Passes While in Act of Shaving

T. J. Martin, well known pioneer who lived southwest of Carmen, died suddenly Thursday morning about 9:30 o'clock at his home, information received in Alva said. Martin, who was about 65 years old, had been shaving and had just completed the operation and started to replace his razor when he was stricken and fell to the floor. the family rushed to him, but he died within a few minutes, the report said. Martin had lived something like 35 years in that immediate neighborhood. He leaves a wife and several children. His home was with his son-in-law, Walter Quinn, and Mrs. Quinn. He was a member of the Holiness church" (The Alva Daily Record, July 19, 1935, p. 1, c. 3).
