*Sylvester Dussenbury Martin, Jr. owned a plantation in Rome, Georgia. He hadmany slaves. When he heard the Civil War had started, he freed his slaves, andwent to join the Northern forces. After the war, he moved to the Ft. Payne area of Alabama. He had a son named Charles Robert Martin, born in 1878. Sylvester was wounded in the war and died years later from it. He owned a large piece of land in the Lebanon community. He gave a small corner of it to be used for a Church.
