Research Notes

Birth Place: Census records show that he was born in Mississippi.[5][10] His Find a Grave memorial gives Phoenix, Yazoo County, Mississippi as his birth location but does not give a source for the information.[4]

Dates: As seen in the previous "Tombstones" section, the record of his tombstone has birth/death dates as 11 September 1868 and 14 November 1957.[1] A 1979 article about Abner Harris gives birth year as 1857.[11] In addition to his tombstone,[1] Census records also support an 1868 birth year.[5][10] His Find a Grave memorial has 11 September 1869,[4] but includes an image of his tombstone that matches the tombstone record above: 11 September 1868.[1] Likewise, the Find a Grave memorial's death date is incorrect - it has "15 Nov 1957" while the image of the tombstone shows 14 November 1957.[4]
