Francisca was born about 1811, the daughter of Nolberto Martínez and Antonia Martínez, part of the indigenous community of Aguascalientes, most likely members of the Caxcan or Guachichil tribes native to the region. She served for many years as the nanny to the children of Mariano Villalobos, part of the wealthy and powerful Villalobos family of Aguascalientes and the Highlands of Jalisco. Francisca had at least one natural born child with Mariano Villalobos.
