Biography

Hamnet le Massy de Rixton alias Hamon le Mascy of Rixton[1]

On 11 August 6 Henry V, that is 1418, an indenture was made between Hamnet le Massy de Rixton and Robert le Massy de Hale, for the payment to Hamnet, during the lifetime of Peleryne, wife of Robert de Mascy, of 20s yearly, for a mortgage on premises in Ordwyk and Hale in county Chester.[1] This is the first document written in old French in this collection of deeds.

At Hertford on 21 March, 13 Henry VI, that is 1435, William le Mascy, son of Hamon le Mascy of Rixton, was granted by William Troutbek, Esq, Robert del Mere, Richard Bolde, John Hawardyne, and William Holme, chaplain, all the messuages etc in the county of Chester of which they had been enfeoffed by the said William le Mascy, which was witnessed by Ralph Maynwaring, Hugh de Dutton and Robert le Grosvenor.[1]

By a deed dated 9 January, 14 Henry VI, that is 1436, Hamon le Massy granted to his son George for life, a mediety of his lands, etc, in Cheshire, and ten days later, on 19 January 14 Henry VI, William Massy confirmed to his brother, George Massy, the grant their father had made, by a deed which was witnessed by John de Leycester, William del Bruche, and Ralph de Swettenham.[1]

Hamlet Mascy died June 14, 1426.
