Mason-629 and James-8135 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, similar birth data. James-8135 is unlinked and empty. Use data from Mason-629

I was checking my cousin relationship with actor Mark Hamill on Geni. It has it going via my Porter / Withers / Barbee ancestors and then we get to this profile for Sarah Mason who was married first to Barbee and then to James.

Geni has a daughter listed as Margaret James who married John James Hogan and they had a son named John Hogan.

I believe I found the matching WikiTree profile for the same John Hogan (as both WikiTree and Geni have his daughter listed as Bathsheba (Hogan) Nelson) though it has no father listed and his mother listed as Ann Sebastian (https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/L1SM-KBP).

So just wondering how these profiles match up. Obviously, more research required.

They do seem to be the same person.

I have two questions:

Who was her mother Frances Norgrave (3rd wife) or Mary French (1st wife)? Her birth seems to imply the 3rd wife.

What is the order of Husbands?

Barbee-957 and Mason-629 appear to represent the same person because: I suggested a merge of the husbands because they are the same. I believe the Sarah's are also the same although her maiden name is Mason. Barbee is a married name.

Mason-9267 and Mason-11711 appear to represent the same person because: same birth date, death date, state of birth and death, and same husband. In addition, the only source for Mason-11711 is the FAG memorial cited for Mason-9267.

Thanks Larry! You corrected that.

The Wikipedia link actually shows that Sarah is the daughter of George Mason's 3rd wife Frances Norgrave.

As leader of Southern Colonies Project, I am setting the proposed merge of Mason-629 and Mason-9267 to an unmerged match long enough for the PMs and other interested members to have time to collaborate. I will be responsible for following up on the proposed merge. Thanks!

Thanks, Larry. I think it would be acceptable to move this to an unmerged match while we take a closer look. There is already one unmerged match that appears to need addressing.

Please post any sources with your opinions in the message boxes. Thanks!

I agree that the profiles Mason-9267 and Mason-629, may represent the same person.

Maybe one of the other profile managers of Mason-629 would be in a better position to address the following issues: Was 11 Sep 1699 the date of her death or her marriage to Thomas James? Who did she marry first? What is the real date of her birth? Who was her mother?
