Biography

Vane Mason, 85, of West Salem died at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1993 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at the First Christian Church in West Salem, with the Brother David Beatty officiating. Burial will be in the Moravian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem.

Mr. Mason was born Dec. 27, 1907 in Edwards County, the son of Caleb and Naomi (Newports) Mason. He married Alma Schonaman on March 7, 1928 in Browns.

Mr. Mason was a farmer and a member of the First Christian Church, where he was an elder for over 40 years.

Mr. Mason is survived by his wife, Alma Mason of West Salem; two sons, Robert Mason of Bridgeport and Ronald Mason of Sumner; two daughters, Rowena Raber of Albion and Phyllis Clodfelter of West Salem; two brothers, Howard Mason and Hubert Mason, both of Albion; a sister, Winifred Sims of West Salem; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
