Mary Massie was born about 1567.
She was the daughter of John Massie, of Coddington, esq, and his fourth wife, Mary Hughes.[1] Mary was the daughter and heir of Edward Hughes of Leon' alias Holt, Denbighshire, esq, Receiver to Queen Elizabeth for Cheshire and Flintshire.[1]
Mary and her sisters, Jane, Anne and Margaret, weren't married in 22 Elizabeth [17 November 1579-16 November 1580].[1] On 2 May, 26 Elizabeth [1584], her father made a settlement of his estates on his sons, John and William, with remainders in default of male issue successively to George Massey of Puddington, his brother John Massey of Coghall, then William Massey of Chester, passing over his eldest son, Thomas, and his daughters; Jane and Margaret received portions of 300 l each.[1] As Mary and Anne weren't mentioned in this settlement, they were presumably already married and had received their portions or not yet born.
She was married to Laurence Starkey of Wrenbury, gent,[1] They were married in January, 1602, at Wrenbury, Cheshire.[2]
